Showers Of Creativity, Part One: Created in the Image

This month we’re going to journey through showers of creativity. We will look at what that means to you personally and how you can use it for your success, and the benefit of those who will be reading your books.

I have to stifle a giggle when people tell me they just aren’t creative. I know that simply isn’t even remotely true. All of us—even those Doubting Thomas family members—were created in the image of God. And God is The Creator. It’s literally impossible for you to not have creativity.

I’m a very creative person but if you know what’s good for you, you will NOT trust me to plan your wedding or even a party for you. You’ll wind up with bags of Doritos, paper plates and cans of soda on the counter. How come? Because I’m not creative at that type of thing. In fact, I suck big fat juicy lemons when it comes to stuff like that. I don’t even know what you call stuff like that!

On the other hand, give me a piece of wood and a carving knife and I’ll create an incredible masterpiece. Tell me a person needs to be encouraged and I’ll write a story that will pierce their heart and bring them hope.

You’re the same way. There are areas where you have creative genius. Sadly, most people focus on the things they aren’t good at and grieve. That negative emotion actually stifles their creativity. Don’t let that happen to you.

Here are a few things you can do that will help you understand your creativity:

Accept the truth that you are created in the Image of the Creator. Whether you understand that or can imagine it, just believe it. It’s true.

Embrace the areas where you are creative. You have those gifts for a reason. It may not be clear to you now, but trust me, it will become more and more clear with every passing year.

Spend your time developing your creativity in your areas of strength. Even if you were to improve your weaknesses by fifty percent, you’d still be mediocre in those areas. If you develop your areas of creativity, you’d be outstanding, even tops in your field.

Take your rightful place. Your creativity is a necessary part of what makes the world what it is. Without it, the world will have a void. We need your creativity in the precise area of your giftedness. Believe that.

So tell me, what are your areas of creative genius? Why not share it with me? Leave a comment and tell us about what you’re really great at. Want to contact me privately? Email me at reba@mybooktherapy.com.
