It’s done!! Okay, not my NaNoWriMo project *sigh* (Although, I did write 27K last week!)
No, I’m talking about this year’s remodeling projects! Since June, we’ve painted most of the exterior of the house, and re-landscaped the front yard. We built my office, inside and out including installing electric, heat and the custom ceiling, remodeled our laundry room, built a deck (actually two, if you count our house in Florida), and turned our three season sunroom into a FOUR season sunroom, (with new windows, and fresh cedar shiplap).
I’m tired just writing all that.
But here are a few pictures of the final sunroom project, along with our celebratory puzzle. 🙂
We’re not done—2021 has a long list too. BUT FOR NOW, we’re going to celebrate.
And that’s the point. I love NaNoWriMo because it’s a great way to dig down and get words on the page. But after a while, your brain just shuts off. You simply ain’t got no more, right?
Or maybe you’re stuck, and you’d like to keep writing, but you can’t quite untangle the next scene.
STOP.
I know. I said the scary word. But sometimes we just need to step away from the project for a bit. Celebrate our wins, let our brain cool down and come back to it fresh.
This is why I love the fact that in the middle of NaNoWriMo, we have a national holiday! (at least here in America!) I declare NO WRITING ON THANKSGIVING. (By the way, that’s not an edict. It’s simply an MBT recommendation. You can ignore it if you’d like. 🙂 )
Even, read something inspiring—putting words back INTO your brain.
You still have a few days after Thanksgiving to finish your project.
So, last NaNoWriMo Tip: STOP. Breathe.
You’ve done well, kimosabe.
Your story matters. Take the weekend and enjoy the one you’re creating with the people you love.
