The one word that changed everything

So, we’ve been on a sort of adventure the past three weeks:

During the adventure of unpacking and painting my bedroom and bathroom, I got on Zoom and did an interview with a life coach for her upcoming Women of Unique Beauty summit.

(By the way, you can sign up for the summit HERE for free!)

She asked me the secret of my success.

“It’s not a secret,” I said. “It’s easy. I said YES when God said GO.”

Yes.

That’s it.

I said Yes when God said Go, be a Missionary.I said yes when God said, Go write the very best newsletter you can for your organization. I said Yes when God said…Go submit that newsletter to a magazine. I said Yes when God said, Go learn how to write a novel. I said Yes when God said, keep writing and don’t give up.

And when I sent in my novella to my mother, stateside, to print and send to a publisher for a contest, (pre 9-11!) and my mother, bless her heart, asked me if I was serious…I said Yes.

I’ve kept saying yes to God for the past twenty years of publishing. Write chick-lit? Yes. Write historicals? Yes. Teach people how to write? Yes. Start an academy to help writers? Yes.

The key to all of this, of course, is that I have to listen to God. Which means I have to spend time with Him. Every day, for the past thirty years.

Yes, God I will listen to you. I will walk through that door.

But, I will wait and listen before jumping in.

This is my dog Jubal. Note the open door next to him. He won’t go through it, however until I invite him in. (Good dog!)

What doors has God invited you to walk through?

Your. Story. Matters.

Say Yes.

Go! Write something brilliant!
