You’re on a roll! You started out the year with a bang and have made great progress in your manuscript. You took Rachel Hauck’s advice and placed butt in chair. You actually feel like an author.
Right now, you are in a very vulnerable place that could completely derail your career. Know why? You’ve accomplished so much, it’s easy to stop. To take a break. To pull over and park for a while, but this is the exact time in your career when you should NOT do that. Here’s why: You have MOMENTUM! Here’s what that means to you:
M: Motion. Pure in simple, a writer who is in motion tends to stay in motion. Period.
O: Obvious. Writing principles and precepts have become second nature to you.
M: Meaningful. It’s all making sense to you now. If you stop, you’ll have to start over again with your thought process.
E: Excited. Nothing propels an author forward like being thrilled about the book they are creating.
N: Navigating. You’re actually negotiating every turn, every fork in the road and are taking the road of a writer. That won’t be true if you stop. Trust me on this one.
T: Timing. It’s no mistake you’re where you are right now in your life. Your time has come and it will wait for no one… not even you. Don’t miss it.
U: Ultimately. What you do today ultimately will become your tomorrow. What do you want to be? A writer? Then don’t stop writing today.
M: Magic. There is something absolutely and undeniably magical about someone’s career when they just don’t stop. Others will… and will simply fall away and disappear.
The simple truth is there are some GREAT authors who’s books are on the shelves in bookstores… right alongside mediocre authors’ books that are now in print because they were the ones who gained momentum and KEPT GOING! Don’t lose your momentum.
So, please step away from the remote control. Turn off YouTube and close Facebook. They’ll be plenty of time for that after you type “The End”. Right now, keep writing. You can’t stop a moving train and you certainly can’t halt a determined writer from creating a masterpiece.
Keep writing! Enough said. Now go continue writing something BRILLIANT!
