Showers of Creativity Part Two: Trust Your Creativity

If you have read the Bible, perhaps you have read the verse that tells us God has given to each of us a measure of faith. Some people confuse faith and trust. We all have at least a tiny bit of faith. Trust, however, must be earned. For you to trust anyone, they must first show themselves trustworthy.

That holds true with your own creativity as well. You have to step out in your gifts and experience a successful outcome in order for you to trust those strengths. Trusting in your gifts is essential to your success, so you know what I’m going to say. Time to step out. Scary proposition? Let me help.

Here are a few things I’ve learned about using my faith to step out to live my dreams:

You’ll fail more times than you will succeed. Don’t panic. The successes have far more value than the failures. If you add up all the failures and compare them to the successes, they pale in comparison.

The more times you try and win, the more you will trust your gifts. Even if the win is only that you discovered ways it won’t work, it will boost your confidence in your creativity.

Trust does not only increases, it multiplies. Gaining trust in your abilities is exponential. This is a case where simple addition does not rule. The confidence you have in your gifts and abilities will soar higher each time you have the courage to step out in the area of your creativity.

Getting to the point where you trust your talent and areas of creative genius will empower you to be the best you can be. It crushes the walls that block your juices from flowing out onto the page. It dispels doubt and moves you into a whole new realm of possibility. Trust in your abilities. God didn’t make a mistake.

What areas of your giftedness have you not yet learned to trust? What can you do to change that? Why not leave a comment here and share your successes and your challenges. Or, if you’d like to contact me directly, email me at reba@mybooktherapy.com.

  1. Just about a year ago, during my quiet time, I was studying Esther. I felt God speaking very clearly to me saying that He has given me a call and the time had come to take it seriously. I stepped out in faith and could never have imagined what would happen over the next year. Some failures and some successes but all have been helpful steps to where I am and where I want to go.

Then this morning, before I read this, my quiet time was about the master giving the servants the talents and it challenged us to be faithful with what we are given. God continues to remind me that I am only required to be faithful with what I can do. The rest is up to Him.

Thanks for speaking the truth Reba!
