Fabulous Read by our own Lisa Jordan! Lakeside Reunion

Susie here:  I admit that I am rather picky about the books I read for enjoyment. I read so much that a book has to wrap me up in its world and whisk me away into the characters lives for me to enjoy it. I know it’s a great book when I stop editing and just savor.

I did exactly this with Lisa Jordan’s debut novel, Lakeside Reunion.  It was absolutely fabulous.  From a storycrafting perspective, she nailed it.  The plot is perfectly paced, the tension delicious, the scenes rich with conflict, the romance spot on.  She even writes and amazing kiss!  And the wordsmithing – oh, the storyworld in this book is rich and adeptly painted, the dialogue crisp, the sentences active and vivid.   As a My Book Therapist, this story is an example of great writing.

It’s also just a fabulous read.  You’ll love the hero, Stephan, for the way he loves his son and you’ll understand Lindsay’s broken heart.  The layers are fabulous and enrich the theme of forgiveness and second chances.  If you study MBT teaching, you’ll know that we look for the 4 pillars of a great novel:  Heroism, Redemption, Sacrifice, and Justice.  This novel has all four. This season, after the hustle of baking and present wrapping and decorating is over, give yourself a gift and snuggle up with Lakeside Reunion by our own MBT Ezine Editor and Forum Hostess Lisa Jordan!

Bed-and-breakfast owner Lindsey Porter prays she won’t run into Stephen Chase when she returns to Shelby Lake. Five years ago, the cop jilted her to marry another woman, and Lindsey fled town. But no sooner does she hit city limits than Stephen pulls her over for a broken taillight. Despite the past, he’s still able to stir up Lindsey’s old feelings for him. Now a widower and single dad, Stephen recognizes a second chance when he sees one. And he’ll do anything to make Lindsey trust in God and take a risk for love—again.

Heart, home and faith have always been important to Lisa Jordan, so writing stories with those elements come naturally. She has been writing contemporary Christian romance for more than a decade. Happily married for over twenty years, she and her husband have two sons. When she isn’t writing or caring for children in her family childcare, Lisa enjoys family time, romantic comedies, good books, crafting with friends and feeding her NCIS addiction.
