Hello Friends!

October 1st! Y’all, I’m shaking my head at how crazy fast this year is flying by!

It’s the time of year I start planning for next year. As you may already know, I work full-time at the family business, manage rental properties, and an AirBnB rental. Life can and does get hectic. At the end of some days, I fall into bed while asking, Where did my day go? And What did I accomplish today?

Along those lines, I wanted to make a change. Can I share with you some of the things I’ve begun?

I’m on my third listen to the book “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. This book was clear, concise, kept my interest, and allowed me to incorporate 3-5 new productive habits in my life.

Some quotes from the book.

“Time magnifies the margin between success and failure. It will multiply whatever you feed it. Good habits make time your ally. Bad habits make time your enemy.”

After year after year of not achieving my goals, this quote started to make sense to me.

“Goals are about the results you want to achieve. Systems are about the processes that lead to those results.”

This one made me swallow.

“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

And this one? This one made me gulp.

“Professionals stick to the schedule; amateurs let life get in the way.”

On the heels of listening to this book, I received an early copy of My Brilliant Writing Planner 2022. (You can insert a happy dancing picture of me. Okay, not really, just imagine.)

You guys! They make this planner better every single year. I shared it at the launch party (you can watch it here (https://www.mybrilliantwritingplanner.com/).

My favorite part of this planner? The class that comes with it. It helps me ask the essential questions to live a life based on my values (which equal to optimum satisfaction and fulfillment) and not on the busyness that tries to overtake my life.

From the planner class, I learned to ask Why?

Let me share one value that’s near and dear to my heart: my children and now my grandchild (Hopefully, I will have more soon!).

I learned why I value my health. I want to live long and healthy to enjoy my children and now grandchildren. I want to be the grandparent that takes the kids out for adventures! To do that, I need to be healthy to keep up with them.

After that, I took what I learned from Atomic Habits and scheduled early morning workouts.

How? The first step was scheduling it into my day. Yes, I know 4:30 am is super early. Then second, setting out my workout clothes the night before, and third, going to bed earlier. In the beginning, I could barely run a twelve-minute mile; now, I’m at a ten-minute mile. I could barely finish the body pump class; now, I’m finishing it without gasping for breath.

If I can do this, you can too!

What do you want your 2022 to look like?
