Ask yourself: What is your story about in just one word? 

This isn’t just about the plot but the deep, resonating theme that drives everything from character development to narrative arc. 

Is it “forgiveness,” “justice,” “resilience,” or something else? 

Identifying this one word can clarify and focus your entire writing process.

 Why This One Word Matters:

• Clarity: It acts as a lighthouse, guiding your narrative decisions and keeping your story aligned with its fundamental message.
• Depth: This thematic focus allows you to explore and enrich your narrative, adding layers that resonate with readers. What other questions or issues are related to this one word?
• Consistency: It ensures every part of your story contributes to a unified whole, enhancing its impact and coherence.
• Marketing: It helps you create your core marketing message and even your Story Question that you can use to engage readers.

Making it Work:

1. Reflect on the core message: Think about the main idea or emotion you want your readers to experience. What are you saying this idea? 

2. Choose your word: Brainstorm and select the word that best captures the essence of your story.

3. Use it as your guide: Let this theme be the lens through which all your creative decisions are made. Does your narrative drive toward this theme? Or does it veery away?
