Christmas Gifts For Writers

by Alena Wendall, @alenawendall

It’s Christmas time! Iā€™m super excited to spend time with family!

This year I bit the bullet and asked each family member to send me a list or links to items they want instead of trying to guess and end up purchasing a dust collector. Do you know what I mean?

They, in turn, asked the same of me. I’m super easy to purchase for — anything writing related. But really, how would they know since they aren’t writers?

In that vein, what if your family and friends feel the same way? Here are some ideas for your loved ones. (Just forward them this blog. šŸ˜Š)

Bookstore gift cards ā€“ I mean, we need to read for research purposes, right?

Craft Books ā€“ Send a link or links to craft books that you would like.

Online Courses ā€“ Send a link to learnhowtowriteanovel.com to a course you would like.

Weekend Getaway ā€“ A weekend getaway to write, write, and write.

My Brilliant Writing Planner ā€“ I can’t imagine managing my work, writing, and family life without the planner. It’s made such a difference for me! Check it out! It comes with a course on value-based planning, and I watch it every year!

Time. ā€“ Ask your friends and family for the gift of time. If you have little ones, ask if they can babysit, and you can take yourself off to a local coffee shop or a library and write to your heart’s content.

Then there are the gifts you can give your writer friends.

A thank you note for the encouragement and assistance they’ve provided you. In this day and age of digital, a handwritten card goes a long way.

Write a Great Review. We all know we live in a world of “5-star reviews.” Write a review for your friends’ book.

An actual phone call. We are all busy, and texting seems to rule. I get it. I do. But sometimes, a call goes further.

I hope these ideas help you this Christmas season. But most of all, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Blessings,

Alena
