Does your story really matter?

So, last week I was in the Big Easy hanging out with a bunch of other novelists at Book Lovers Con 2019. SO. FUN.

(Left to right – Bethany Turner, me, Rachel Hauck, Denise Hunter, Jody Hedlund)

Overwhelming, too, because there were hundreds of authors there, with their own Amazing Works of Fiction, and it was easy to feel lost in the shuffle.

Easy to wonder…why does my book matter? Why should anyone pick up my story?

I was talking about this with lovely and brilliant authors Rachel Hauck and Bethany Turner as we wandered about looking for Beignets (because, you know, priorities) and hanging out on Bourbon street (in daylight. Without booze.)

I’m a little WAY too excited about those beignets…eek!)

“Think about it, Suz,” Rachel said, as she downed her own beignet. “We are here, at this appointed hour in history to share the heart of God with whomever will listen. That’s a holy responsibility.

Wow. (Preach it, Rach!)

“I just want to write my unique story, with my unique talents, to the unique audience God gives me,” Bethany Turner added.

Bam.

Truth.

See, it’s sooo easy to be overwhelmed. To get swept up in the masses and wonder…why would anyone pick up MY book? Does my story matter in this massive sea of publication?

Let’s break it down:

This appointed time.

Your story, with your unique voice.

For the audience God gives you.

To share His heart. His truth.

Yep. It matters.

Because only YOU can tell the story God has given you. And it’s intended for the audience He gives you, no matter how big.

If God has called you to write it, then it’s a holy responsibility.

Your appointed time is now.

Go write something brilliant.
