Howdy Folks! With this year’s Frasier contest right around the corner, let’s acknowledge someone who has made it possible. Introducing Pam Meyers and her new book Love Finds You in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
Q: Pam, can you tell us a little bit about your new book?
A young woman wants to work in a man’s world.
It’s 1933, the height of the Big-Band era, and beautiful Lake Geneva is already well established as a summertime playground for Chicago’s elite. Local girl Meg Alden works at the town newspaper, but she aspires to be a reporter—a job given only to men. When a position opens up, Meg spies an opportunity to break into the business. That is, until Jack Wallace, the son of a big-city newspaper magnate, is hired instead. Jack is drawn to Meg and suggests they combine forces to uncover a local scandal. But how will Meg be able to work with the man who stole her job…and makes her pulse race?
Q: What do you want readers to learn/take away from this story.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 is the theme of my story:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Both my heroine and hero have to accept that God has a better plan for their lives than the one they think is best, and that God will only allow certain things to happen in their lives at the appointed time. This is a lesson I’ve had to learn myself, especially in my writing. Early on, I sensed God’s call on my life to write, but it wasn’t until well into my adult years that I figured out that I should be writing fiction. Then it was about fifteen years before I received “the call” from my agent with the news that I’d sold a story.
I can’t know what any of my readers may be waiting for in their lives, but it is my prayer that they will come away from my story with a greater trust in God for His best for their lives. He really is aware of our wants and in His due time he will bless.
