A Writer’s Point of View

Another rejection letter.

She rewove the plot’s tapestry and won awards for her book’s excellence.

His health is failing.

With fading strength, he called on other writers to carry on the fight, and they still dedicate books to him.

Writer’s block haze.

She set aside her work to know herself, to find the seeds of passion that once bloomed, and there she found a waiting dragon. She unleashed the fireball.

Money problems.

He joins a long, proud tradition of literary geniuses throughout the past millennia.

Time is his worst enemy.

But his hopes and dreams and passions won’t be contained, and his exhausted brain steps aside to make room for his determined heart.

A loved one is dead.

And even though she’s prepublished, the writing community mourns with her, prays for her—a most welcome support.

Fire destroys her life.

No Phoenix, just ashes and rebuilding and her newfound appreciation for relationships with people instead of a house.

She was harassed.

And her pain helped strip sexuality from events where only brains and love of writing and lasting friendships are welcome.

Day job and writing woes.

And yet, without the need for writing income, he gets to choose what he writes instead of pandering to the masses.

Publishers and book industry failing?

It has been for millennia. Who cares? She keeps writing.

Spouse rejects her.

And this time the Phoenix rises, a new woman, to show the world who she really is…a writer, strong enough to overcome the doubts and fears inside.

She loves books.

And suddenly, she sees it’s not the books she loves. She loves the truth the books contain.

Does anyone care?

The question lingers, but the passion for the truth and the written word drive them on, until one day, someone says to them, “What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .” (C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves)
